Classic and Timeless
The initial idea behind this project was to create a video that captured the iconic Ray-Ban style, infused with a rock soul. We rarely shoot in black and white, but this was the perfect moment to do so. It allowed us to emphasize the classic and timeless essence of the brand while conveying a strong, bold aesthetic that aligns with Ray-Ban’s identity.
Exploring retro aesthetics
To make things more challenging for ourselves, we decided to shoot the entire video on analog film. This choice created an interesting contrast with the cutting-edge Meta technology integrated into the glasses. We were excited by the juxtaposition of vintage film with such modern innovation, exploring a fascinating blend of retro aesthetics and advanced technology.
Iconic as a analog film
To achieve this vintage feel with a modern execution, we chose to shoot with an Arri 16mm and an 8mm camera. These tools allowed us to deliver an authentic and evocative result. The film was developed and scanned in just four working days, allowing us to meet tight deadlines without compromising the quality of the final product.
